We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical personnel for upcoming shutdowns.
Rates (Plus 10% Night Shift Uplift)
Mechanical Supervisors – $85.00 per hour
Mechanical Leading Hands – $72.50 per hour
Mechanical Fitters & Boilermaker Welders – $65.00 per hour
Essential Requirements
Certificate III – Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker Trade
Minimum 2–3 years mine site experience
S26 Statutory Supervisor (Required for leadership roles)
Working at Heights (within 2 years)
Confined Space (within 2 years)
Gas Test Atmospheres
First Attack Fire
Construction White Card
Current Driver’s Licence

What are mechanical leading hands?
Mechanical Leading Hands are Trade Certified Mechanical Fitters or Boilermaker Welders with Cert 3 or above.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
Lead and coordinate a team of mechanical fitters to ensure efficient and safe completion of all mechanical maintenance tasks.
Assign daily tasks to mechanical fitters and ensure resources are available.
Monitor team performance and provide guidance to junior team members.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and company procedures at all times.
Maintenance & Repairs:
Perform mechanical fitting duties including the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
Oversee the maintenance schedule and ensure all maintenance work is completed in a timely manner to reduce downtime.
Worksite Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all work is performed according to health, safety, and environmental policies.
Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce safety awareness.
Ensure that all team members are compliant with relevant safety regulations and best practices.
Training & Development:
Mentor and develop the skills of junior fitters.
Train new employees and apprentices on procedures, best practices, and safety protocols.
Provide feedback and performance reviews for team members.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed, spare parts inventory, and any issues encountered.
Report any major mechanical failures to the Engineering Manager and assist with root cause analysis.
Assist in the development and improvement of maintenance procedures.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanical fitter, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leading hand role.
Experience in a manufacturing, mining, or heavy industry environment is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong mechanical knowledge of industrial machinery, mechanical systems, pumps, and valves.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical diagrams, drawings, and schematics.
Leadership Skills:
Proven experience leading and coordinating a team.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Working knowledge of safety systems, regulations, and hazard identification.
Working at Heights ( within 2 years )
Confined Space ( within 2 years )
