The Heavy Duty Fitter is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy earthmoving and other equipment in a
safe, efficient and competent manner.
Australian Recognised Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Heavy)
Forklift Licence
Australian HR Drivers Licence
Responsibilities
Only operate equipment that you have been assessed as competent to operate by a Trainer and Assessor
Complete daily time sheets accurately and in a timely manner
Immediately notify your supervisor of any major mechanical defects found whilst performing duties
Ensure the maintenance schedule or scope of works for each piece of equipment is adhered too
Establish and maintain an accurate record of repairs and maintenance for all equipment
Completion of a machine inspection report prior to any equipment leaving or being returned to client
Ensure that all equipment that is being parked up is safe and a post check is conducted at the end of each shift
Ensure compilation of accurate list of parts and materials for jobs are forwarded to the stores for procurement
and supply
Ensure an inspection of work area and surrounds are conducted twice daily and good housekeeping principals
applied to work area
Ensure all defects and hazards are reported for future action (defects of a minor nature are to be rectified at the
time of inspection)
Ensure all AES policies, procedures and instructions are adhered to at all times
Perform any additional tasks as directed which are within your skill, qualification, and competence level
Desirable criteria
Australian Recognised Trade Certificate III in Tyre Fitting (can discuss with a veteran if you do not have this)
Certificate II Automotive Air Conditioning
Working at Heights Certificate
Elevated Work Platform Ticket
White Card
Forklift Ticket
Crane Ticket
Dogman’s Ticket
Current Australian First Aid Certificate
